ARXANES-MUSEUM NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS….It is connected with HERAKLION by a road that is around 16 kilometers. ARXANES is a beautiful small town at an altitude of 380 meters, in the middle of a basin that flows through the torrent CAIRATOS and divides it into two unequal parts. This colorful village has been awarded at a EUROPIAN contest and is an example to follow in terms of housing development.

In the museum there are hand notes from the writer and examples  of correspondence with great thinkers and writers of his time, also there are first editions of his works in Greek and in other languages, rare photographic material, souvenirs from his travels, personal belongings, models, costumes and theatrical material here and abroad, pottery and sculpture in his form, dozens of works that highlights Nick Kazantzakis’s personality
